And this is why Guilford Day exists...

For those of you who don't know, I work at Guilford Day School, a small private school for kids with average to above average intelligence who have ADHD and/or some sort of learning disability. Today's quote of the day comes directly from a fourth grade classroom...

The class is working on a worksheet where they are listing their strengths and weaknesses including their disabilities...

Student: Teacher, how do you spell ADHD?
(pause for audience laughter) Teacher turns around and smuggles a full-out belly laugh when she realizes the student isn't joking.
Teacher: Well sweetie, those letters are an abbreviation, so you spell it using the letters that you say.
Student: Oh, ok.
Teacher takes up papers and reads them at a later time.
Student lists as her disability: "ADHB"

...and for those students was Guilford Day created! :)
