Fall Fun

Hi! I know it's been awhile since I posted, but my goal is to post at least twice a month. It's difficult but very possible.

Isabella went for her 3 year old check-up the other day. She was a trooper, and as long as mommy did it first, she was pretty compliant with everything. Dr. Dees said she was a "perfect" 3 year old! She is 38+ pounds, which is in the 95th percentile and she is 40.5 inches, which is beyond the 97th percentile. Her height also means that she has outgrown her carseat already, which holds kids up to 65 pounds but only 40 inches.

She is doing really well at school. She loves her teacher, Ms Courtney (and by loves I mean she often will just randomly announce "I love Courtney"). She gets sad when it is not a school day, which is different than before, when she liked school but would rather stay home. She is learning a lot, too. The other night she recited the Pledge of Allegiance about 10 times. Let me tell you, it is impressive to hear your 3 year old say with perfect clarity "...indivisible with liberty and justice for all." This is the year that they start having jobs at school. Isabella is always very proud to announce that she was the story collector or chair scooter or calendar helper that day. She is also learning to write some of her letters, and her pictures of people are getting to that typical preschooler stage of a circle, a face, and arms and legs. It is the cutest thing to me. She is very good at writing an I, and the other day she copied her name from where the teacher wrote it. You can definitely pick out the I s b l l a.

Sorry all these pictures are sideways but I was too lazy to rotate them before I uploaded them. Below is a picture of a "firefighter ghost", drawn sometime around Fire Safety Week and Halloween.

And here we have a family collage that Isabella made at school. I only look that good in my wildest dreams!

Isabella enjoys going to basketball games with Nick. I missed volleyball season this year darn it! He definitely has an early advantage right now as to which sport she will be influenced to play...

Bailey is doing pretty well too. We are battling through some issues with constipation (sorry if TMI) caused by the adjustment to eating solid foods. We have had to completely cut out bananas and applesauce and add in flax seed and prunes (if you ever want to gross someone out with a food, take some dried prunes, reconstitute them in hot water, then puree them. mmmmm, looks just like the bodily function that it is supposed to cause). She is such a busy little one and is nearly impossible to please right now. She is definitely mobile, just not crawling. She wants so badly to be crawling and is often frustrated by the fact that she can't, but not patient enough to spend enough time on her belly. One morning the other week, she fell off our bed. Bad parents award, right here! It made such a loud noise that it woke Annie up, who is usually immune to all of our early morning noises around here. We took her to the dr just to be safe and she checked out fine. She rolls, flips, reaches, stretches, and can even kind of scoot on her bottom. She is definitely going to pose a huge challenge to us when she starts really moving. She is not a laid-back, content kid like Isabella was. If Bailey wants something, Bailey is going to figure out a way to get it. She is certainly a happy, loving little baby though, full of smiles, hugs, screechy laughs, and kisses. She has also started dancing, sometimes to music and sometimes not.

Such is life in the Aceves household! While Isabella has her 3 year old drama queen moments, she is generally a very agreeable little girl. And yes, we have hit the "why" stage over here, but that doesn't last forever, right? Bailey is just doin' her little Bailey Boots thing (Isabella cracks me up lately, she will spot a B somewhere and say "B is for Poots (another nickname)!" which I guess is sort of right...). Nick just got through football season at work so hopefully that means more nights at home before basketball season starts up. His first semester of graduate school is almost over, so he'll have the worst two classes behind him - statistics and educational research methods. Can't believe Thanksgiving is this week with Christmas close behind!

I love your updates, however often you can get them up here! :) Have you tried probiotics with Bailey? Our ped put Allyn on them recently after a bad bout with diarrhea and they helped A TON!

Don't feel bad... Allyn fell off our bed and her changing table TWICE. I blame it on second child syndrome!!!
