4 months, the flu, real snow, and Happy Valentine's Day!

Wow, so much has gone on lately but it has been awhile since my last post. Isabella and I both woke up on Sunday morning with the flu. Needless to say it has been quite a rough week. I feel like we are back to newborn-hood. She has been eating a lot, she's not sleeping well, and she has been crying. And that adorable smile disappeared for a little while as well. But she has been a real champ through it all! Her worst days were Sunday and Monday but then her fever subsided pretty quickly and the fussiness all but stopped. She still can't quite sleep through the night because of her awful congestion but her personality has returned! I was out of work Monday, Tuesday, and part of Wednesday. I am SO extra thankful for last night's snowfall that kept us out of school today! I am finally starting to feel better because the congestion is clearing up. But I felt pretty bad up until about 10:00 this morning. And the snow - it was for real this time! Not a dusting but a real snowfall! It is warmer and sunny today, so it is quickly disappearing, but it stuck to the ground, the trees, and the roads. Last night, if Isabella and I hadn't been sick, we were going to go watch the Davidson Wildcats beat UNCG in basketball. Unfortunately, we didn't make it. Nick went with Dad and another friend, and it took them about 45 minutes to get from the arena back home because the roads were so bad.

This morning we were awake for about 2 hours before Nick turned to me and said "oh yeah, Happy Valentines Day". It has been such a rough week that we didn't even get each other a card! But Isabella is in the spirit today!

I can't believe that she turned 4 months old last Friday! She is really growing up! She now has more control over her hands and spends a lot of time grabbing things. She is also pretty close to rolling over. When she's on her back, a lot of times she either slams her heels into the floor or else she picks her legs up into the air and rolls onto her side. She is babbling a lot. Her new favorite sound is "mmmmm". It's funny when she does it, too, because her mouth looks like an old person who has taken out their dentures! We had her 4 month appointment on Monday, which is when she was diagnosed with the flu. They didn't give her the shots, thank goodness, but we did get all the stats taken. She is now 20,6 and 26.5 inches long. Her height is in the 99th% and her weight is between the 99th and 100th%. That's my big girl! Her infant car seat only goes up to 22 pounds, so we have to get her a new one of those pretty soon. And her bouncy seat, which she loves, and the swing, which she has just discovered, only go up to 25 pounds! Most baby gear isn't made for babies who come this big!

She has been so good through this sickness. She is very patient with us when we wipe her nose or suction it out. She really hasn't complained too much. She's such a trooper!
