Isabella has taught herself to spit and it totally cracks us up. She seems to do it to amuse herself mostly, like in the car or stroller or here in her bouncy. She also has started this high pitched talking, you can hear it a little bit here. It sounds sort of like a laugh but she's not really laughing when she does it. It is quite nasally too.
She has really quickly gone from noticing that her hands are useful for bringing things to her mouth to grabbing everything and bringing everything to her mouth. She has been reaching out to pet the dogs - that is super cute - we'll have to try to get a video of that. She is getting stronger, we don't think it will be too much longer before she is rolling over and sitting up better. She is still very social but is starting to play shy - she will smile at someone and then turn her head and bury it into the chest of whoever is holding her. She loves other kids - today we saw Emma for a minute and she was so happy to see her. She also smiles and babbles at Crystal's kids, especially Jordan, who is exactly 5 months older than Isabella and likes to steal Isabella's paci right out of her mouth!
Isabella and I have both recovered from the flu although we both have a little cough that is hanging around (as you can tell from the video).
We're sure that she is still growing - I just noticed tonight that although she is still well within the length limit for 9 month clothes, she has just passed out of the weight limit. I guess any clothes we purchase now need to be the 12 month size! I can't believe that Isabella will be wearing 12 month clothes when she is only 5 months old! The good thing is that she still fits into the 9 month clothes just fine (except for certain pairs of pants - if they are not stretchy enough, they will not fir over her thighs!). She actually has a couple of 6 month things that she still wears, but we should probably retire those. We haven't started solids yet and hopefully won't until she is 6 months. The doctor said we can (and should) start now, but after doing a lot of reading, the latest recommendations say that babies shouldn't get solids until 6 months so that their digestive systems can fully develop. So our goal is to hold off.
It is getting so exciting for us that two of our good friends will be giving birth sometime in the next few weeks! We can't wait to meet baby Olivia and baby Maddox!
