Happy Birthday to Grandbob! Don't worry, I won't reveal your age, but I'm pretty sure you're somewhere close to 45! ;) My dad is so impressive - he has rediscovered his love for running over the past few years and now runs in races, mostly 5Ks and stuff, although he is running a 7 miler next weekend. But what is really amazing to me (who has never enjoyed running) is that this summer he has done a lot of races in the mountains, including some crazy elevation changes. I can't imagine actually running 3+ miles at a time, much less uphill. Way to go, Dad! Once he was up at Beech running and he saw a bear. Good thing it was running the other way because Dad was at the end of his run and he was pretty tired.
Isabella finally learned how to pull up today! Until about 3 weeks ago, she never showed any interest in putting weight on her feet. Fast forward to last week when she started pushing up on her feet while crawling (like a bear crawl). Yesterday she progressed to pushing up on her feet while her hands were on a low object (see beanbag picture). Today she actually used the coffee table to pull up!! I think that cruising will come pretty quickly because sometimes she will take one step while standing. Quite the exciting weekend for Isabella! Oh and she also learned how to scream at the top of her lungs. For FUN. It was cute yesterday at the Children's Museum because it is loud in there anyway. But not so cute when she does it in the house.
Right now she is the perfect combination of little miss independence and little miss snuggle pants. She is so happy now that she can crawl and she doesn't mind crawling all over the house without us. She usually doesn't mind being left in a room by herself unless she is really tired or really hungry. She can play by herself for quite awhile, flipping through books, opening and closing doors, untieing tennis shoes, playing with her toys, dancing, pulling on cords, dumping over the dogs' water bowl, unpacking her diaper bag, rolling her high chair around the dining room, shaking the shower curtain back and forth, looking out the window, patting the dogs...yeah, she knows how to have fun by herself! But she also loves crawling all over us and getting lots of hugs and snuggles. She is so fun! Last night Nick leaned in to her and said "kisses", like we usually do. Much to our surprise, she turned to him and gave him a "kiss". It was very very sweet. At the Children's Museum yesterday she climbed up a little set of stairs! And climbed back down. I am amazed at how quickly she is growing up! Here are a couple of videos from when we were at Davidson last weekend. She was crawling on the gym floor and she was so excited about it! She would crawl to me, laughing the whole time, touch me, then turn right around to Nick, laughing and crawling, touch him, and turn back around. It was hysterical! And notice how she crawls with her head down so she periodically has to stop and look to see where she is.

Cloth diapering is still going very well for us. I can't remember if I've posted anything about that recently so forgive me if I have. I do a load every other night. It isn't as much work as people may think. I am also still breastfeeding. My goal was 12 months (which is right around the corner, gasp!), but I don't really see either of us being ready to stop in a month. She nurses when she wakes up, when I pick her up from the sitter, and before bed. She also drinks some milk while I'm at work, so I do still have to pump at work. Luckily it is down to once per day. Eating is also still going well. Her latest new foods are corn, peppers and onions, eggplant, asparagus, and dried cranberries. She eats most of her meal as finger foods because she isn't too crazy about the purees anymore. Although she still loves her yogurt so she'll eat almost anything if there is enough yogurt mixed in. I will be glad when she can eat what we're eating. Preparing her food separately was easier when I could just freeze the purees into ice cubes and pop out one or two a meal. Now we have to have more fresh or frozen produce on hand and when we go out to eat, one of us usually tries to get something that she can have a bit of. We have been giving her some of our meals but there are things that she doesn't eat yet, like tomatoes, or too much salt, that prevents us from giving her everything we eat.
She continues to do well with her adjustment to me going back to work. Nick has settled into a routine with her in the morning that does include a nap (she usually naps on his chest, but eventually she'll nap in her crib). I mean, how cute are these sleeping baby pictures? I especially love that first one. Oh she looks so snuggly! She is crying less when Nick leaves her at Heather's every day and she usually takes a good nap for Heather too. So we're all getting back in the swing of things. Work has been so crazy but now that school has actually started, things will settle down somewhat.
Nick is so happy tonight - he is at a Carolina football game. Football season has started but it is going to be a little bit different this year since we have a "no tv under 2" rule at our house. So thankfully, football won't be on for 12 hours a day on the weekends. :) While Isabella is sleeping or playing in another room will be the only time he can watch - thank goodness for DVR!
