Not such a great idea, Mommy

Dinner time, like in most families, is hectic time at the Aceves household. Most nights Nick is not home so I have to entertain Isabella and cook at the same time. Some nights are harder than others and I get desperate for something, anything to occupy Isabella while I get dinner ready. The first thing that caught my eye the other night was an apple. I thought she could sniff it and roll it on the floor. It worked! It kept her quiet and entertained long enough for me to finish chopping the tomatoes, onions, and avocado for the tacos. But what I didn't anticipate is that she would actually try to eat it! So since raw apples (and their skin especially) are still somewhat of a choking hazard for the little one, I will not be giving her another apple for a play toy (and most of you out there are thinking...duh!)

In other news...

Isabella and I came down with a virus this week. I think it is the stomach virus that is running rampant through school right now but luckily for us it has just caused a little bit of queasiness and a fever - no sickies.
Tuesday night was FABULOUS!! I am so proud that NC went blue! And also that Kay Hagan and Bev Perdue won. I do have to say that I was really impressed with John McCain's concession speech. He did a nice job with that. And Barack Obama's speech gave me chills. What a great time to be an American!!

We are looking forward to this weekend - my Granddad is coming down for the UNC-GaTech football game. Nick, my dad, and my granddad are going to the game together. Granddad went to GT, so it will be a fun afternoon for them.
It is such a beautiful time in NC right now. The trees are absolutely beautiful this year and right now the weather is in the 70s for a few days! Love it!
