Fascination
I love being a mom! Tonight's fascinating experience came right before bedtime when Isabella decided to play with her blocks. She got these wooden blocks for her birthday so they've been around for a few months. Mostly she just watches us build with them and then knocks over our towers. She hadn't really had the fine motor ability to stack them herself. Tonight was the first time that I got to witness her stacking them herself! It was absolutely fascinating because she sort of slipped into her own world and I got to just be a fly on the wall unless she needed help. She was concentrating so hard! She was using the arch block (we all had these same wooden blocks as kids, so you know what I'm talking about) and she would stack one block on top of it. Sometimes she would stack another block next to it. Then she would move one block out of the way in order to put another block on. It was so cool to watch. She was really steady with it too, which surprised me. She went on like that for about 5 or 10 minutes, just putting a block on, picking up a new block, looking at the end of it, then moving the first block so she could put down the second block. I was praising her for part of it so sometimes she would pause and wait for my reaction then she would give a half smile and continue. Just incredible.
