bu bu bites

The best way to learn a new language is to be immersed in it, right? Well, we are quickly learning Toddlerese: the Isabella dialect of Toddlerese to be exact. She is learning new words at a lightspeed pace. My personal favorite is blueberries, which sounds more like bu bu bites. She learned how to say that somewhat tricky word because that girl can EAT her some bububites. She'd probably go through a pint at one sitting if I'd let her.

She understands perfectly what an accomplishment it is for her to speak and for us to understand her. She gets a very satisfied smile on her face when she realizes that you have understood what she has said. Very sweet.

She is also slowly venturing into the world of two-word phrases, though she doesn't have many yet. I love to hear her say "sittin mama" when she sits beside me on the steps. She also says shoes on or on shoes and shoes off or off shoes.

If you spend a short time with Isabella you would easily understand when she says words like: sit, on (ahhhhnnn), off (awwfff); book, sides (which means inside or outside, depending on her current location), hat, hot, and her favorite new word, ba ba (bye bye).

Words you might need a translator for:

gook or gork = fork
bpp = spoon
nuch or nunch = lunch
ah-nuh = all done (a version of this also means down)
wop or pwop or vwop = wipe
sack = snack
seek = swing
and this word is hard to spell but it is a cross between mup/mamp/mump/mip/mimp = milk
and yesterday she just started saying somersault but she only said it a couple of times so I don't remember exactly how it sounded.
