Izzyms

If you've ever had the pleasure of knowing a 2 year old, you know that they often say the funniest things! I try to remember to write down all of the "Isabella-isms" or "Izzyms" for short, but of course it doesn't always happen. You may have seen some of these on Facebook already, but I'm trying to keep track of them here as well, since this is a more permanent record.
My birthday party
She is obsessed with her birthday and birthday party. The other morning at breakfast, she was going to finish her breakfast and then it would be time for her birthday party? She wanted "three friends at my birthday party (as she holds up 3 fingers and counts them off) Mommy, Daddy, and monkeys". She wants a black cake with 3 black candles. Today it was (in the highest pitch voice I've ever heard) "Emma Deasy be at my birthday party?" And "my birthday party be first. Then Paul Deasy's birthday". Sorry kid! Paul's birthday is this month and you've got til October! The way she's talking about it, we better prepare some kind of party! The build-up for it is incredible!

Prepositions
Her use of prepositions is a little hit or miss. Generally she uses them correctly, but my two favorite of her mistakes are "over/under to the" and "for". I guess she got the first one from "please walk over to the table", but every time she uses over or under, it is followed by "to the". "I am climbing over to the couch" "I am crawling under to the table". She also never ever uses the word "with". She always replaces it with "for". "Wanna go outside fer me?" "Bailey, wanna play fer my toys?" "Now I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing fer me"

Going to work
Notice the shoes in this picture. I was finishing my dinner at the dining room table when Isabella announced that she needed to put her shoes on and "go to work". She then proceeded to go upstairs, put on this selection of shoes (usually she refuses to even wear the adorable Mary Janes, and of course the pink boot is her snow boot, lined with some hot fuzzy stuff, and it is summertime around here), and walked right out the front door. Yes, she can unlock and open the front door now. A little scary.

Nemonade
Last night we were playing outside and Nick brought me a glass of wine. When I wouldn't let her have any of my "brine", she asked Daddy for something to drink, and he gave her a special drink too - "nemonade".

OB BY MY SELF
Of course, as is typical of her age, she is starting to be Miss Independent (which is sometimes immediately followed by whining and wanting mommy and daddy to help). Anyway, one of the things she insists on doing by herself is climbing in and out of her carseat. When it is time for her to get out, she will say that she wants to do it "Ob. By. My. Self." Very exaggerated and very funny (she knows it).

Pee Pee in the Potty!
Typical Isabella, she does things at her own pace (crawling and walking came much later than most of her peers for example). Potty training is probably going to be no exception. Not that 2 1/2 is late for potty training, but we're really not pushing it at all. It'll come when she's ready and will probably be easier. Anyway, she does show some interest and has been peeing in the potty some recently. It always makes her laugh! I don't know if the sensation of peeing into air is that much different than peeing into a diaper, or what, but it cracks her up! Last night I was so proud of her - she was in the bathtub and actually told me she needed to pee, and got out of the bathtub and peed in the potty! Yay!

Well, that's all the Izzyms I can think of for now. I'll try to be better about recording them. Reality for a 2 year old is definitely fun and exciting!

Blythe would like to come to the party with the monkeys! She's been waking up in the mornings telling us she had a dream about "monkeys running in her backyard!"
