SK has arrived!

This picture has nothing to do with this post, except that both are about Isabella. I just like it.

Isabella is finally able to say "sk"! After months of saying words like sook = school, sug = squirrel, bassekt = basket, and so forth, she has finally figured out how to say school! And she is so proud of it! Not that we made a big deal out of her not saying it right, actually, I thought it was pretty cute, but now she will say it over and over again the right way.

Last night she was up in her room reading before going to sleep. It was late, like around 9:15, but we didn't really think much of it until Nick went up to the kitchen and noticed...her light was on! She had climbed into her bottom drawer to reach the lamp on her dresser. Sneaky girl. When Nick went up there to turn off the light, she said "but it's dark in here doh". Well, sweet girl, that's the whole point! And when he left, she said "au revoir!" We're teaching her Bonjour and Au revoir because our friends the Deasys are bilingual, because Guylene is from France. The other night they were over for dinner and when we served Paul chocolate for dessert, he called it by its French name, which sounds like choc-o-lah. Isabella CRACKED UP. She literally could not stop laughing. And she would try to say it "Paul said choc-o-lah" but crack up in the middle of it. She thought it was just the funniest thing ever. I don't think I've seen her laugh that hard.

She continues to be a very well behaved nearly 3 year old. She has her moments, sure, and she does like to whine, but really she is an overall good kid. She has really picked up on manners lately, saying please and thank you a lot of times without being prompted. This morning I opened her car door for her and she said "thanks mom. you're my mom." At the science center this weekend, someone held the door for me to get the stroller through and after I said thanks, Isabella walked out behind me and said "thanks". I couldn't believe it, because usually she won't talk to strangers! She has also picked up on the use of the words sweetie, sweetheart, and sweetiepie. Sometimes I'll do something for her and she'll say "thanks sweetiepie".

I never quite imagined the hilarity that could possibly be involved in breastfeeding in front of a 2 year old. Did I already tell the story about when we were in Eddie Bauer? It's worth telling again just in case. This was a couple of months ago, we were in Eddie Bauer and Isabella was carrying around a stuffed dog that they had in there. She lifted up her shirt, put the dog to the boob, and announced that she was giving the doggie some milk. Luckily, there were few other people in there, and we were in the back of the store. I thought it was hilarious. Now that I'm going back to work, I've been pumping milk for Bailey, which Isabella also finds hilarious. She says "Mommy, why are you pomping?" The other day, she asked "Mommy, are you done milking yet"? But my favorite so far is when I was pomping at breakfast the other day...Isabella lifted g=her shirt, put her spoon in place and said "I am Bailey's sister. I am pomping milk for Bailey. You don't pump milk for Bailey" Always an adventure around here...

Every time I notice my kids saying something "right" that they used to say differently I'm glad & sad at the same time! It's hard to let go of that baby stuff!

Isabella cracks me up! I love the nursing & "pomping" stories! :)
