1 Week later...
Bailey is healing quickly, faster than me. These pictures are horrible because I couldn't get her to sit still long enough for me to take a better one, but you can definitely tell that her leg is looking better than a week ago! I think the mental/emotional effects are more traumatic though, to be honest. Every time I hold Bailey near the stove, she grabs her leg and whimpers. Argh, as if I didn't feel guilty enough!! And every time I cook, Isabella asks me if I'm going to get burned. Tonight she was helping me cook (one of the best meals I've made in recent memory, actually, so if you're so inspired, make these enchiladas with this sauce), and she told me that if me and her got burned, we would have to go to the doctor. My kids are smart and I guess won't let me forget a thing like that!!
On a more positive note, these are the shoes I was wearing when I got burned. The shoe on the right represents the original color of the shoes. I am thankful for these shoes because my foot would have gotten burned much worse had I not been wearing them, but unfortunately, the shoe on the left was damaged by the oil. They were brand new shoes, comfy and cute, so I was pretty bummed. The oil was really splotchy and it would have been too obvious to wear like that. So, I decided to just stain the entire shoe! I took some more oil (not screaming hot!), and rubbed it all over the shoe. It turned the whole shoe dark, and I think that I actually salvaged the shoe! I then did the other one too, duh, and I am so proud of myself! I wish I had taken a picture before, but at least I was heads up enough to show the original color.
