I'll tell you what Isabella does - she explores her little world. Since we put the house on the market we downsized in the toy department and she hasn't really missed any of them. Her greatest joys right now are stairs and doors. She has been able to climb up stairs for quite awhile but really enjoys getting to go up them on both feet (holding onto a railing and/or Mommy or Daddy). She also gets a kick out of going down them on both feet - one hand on the railing and one hand holding Mommy or Daddy. She also is really enjoying doors. This afternoon she was getting in the closet and closing the door. I guess the dark doesn't bother her! Heather has to keep her front door locked now because Isabella can open that door. She also likes opening and closing the gates on our fence. I guess it gives her a sense of control. The other day she hit the jackpot! We were at the Deasys and their back door has a step-down. So Isabella got to open the door, step up, close the door. Open the door, step down, close the door. Repeat for at least 10 minutes. It was the most fun thing in the world until she closed her thumb in the door...ouch.
Although her expressive language is not currently blossoming (I got some good video of the mmkks tonight...I'll post it sometime...), her receptive language is great! She has a pretty high receptive vocabulary (high is not in comparison to anything, just a parental observation). Tonight she surprised me as we were reading one of those First Words books, you know, with all the pictures of common items and the word printed below. Anyway, she pointed to the chair, and I said "chair". Then she pointed to the dining room chair. Next she pointed to the couch and then to our couch. And then pointed to the apple and then pointed to the kitchen.
Speaking of expressive language, she was playing peek-a-boo with me behind a door and I was saying bye bye and hello. One time (and only once of course) she said "herow" in the same high pitched voice I was using for our game. Adorable!
She is still a really good eater, especially for a toddler. She isn't usually too picky, although she will go through those phases where she eats an entire two servings of a dish for dinner and then won't even eat a bite of it for lunch the next day. She loves fruit the most but lately has been diggin' black beans. One thing she usually refuses to eat is spinach. I fixed a pasta dish tonight with sort of a spinach cream sauce and she refused to eat it. Black beans for 3 out of the past 4 meals and she gobbled them right up!
Sorry for two wordy posts without pictures but my stupid camera...
Oh wait, I forgot I hadn't posted these yet:
