Uh Oh!!

Turn up your volume and don't miss the first few seconds of this one! Bailey is working on learning so many new things right now - saying "uh oh" is one of her many new accomplishments. Other things she's learned recently are how to sit up on her own (which she likes to do in the crib - time to drop the mattress!) and how to sign "more".

She is STILL not crawling, even though I thought she'd be crawling months ago. She has taken about 2 "steps" forward with her knees on all 4s but won't commit to the full out crawl yet. although she will wreak absolute havoc on our household when she does crawl, I am sort of wanting her to hurry up and do it. She is in that stage where she isn't happy when you're holding her but she doesn't want to be down by herself either. She isn't all that interested in walking either - she will sometimes take steps if you're holding her by the hands but not always. She can support herself for a little while by leaning up against a table.

Unfortunately, she seems to be teething again...we're on nursing strike number 3 now. The last one lasted about a week and ended randomly - with no tooth in sight. Now we're on day 4...the signs of teething are there but no tooth has been spotted yet. It has been quite an emotional and stressful month and a half for me. assuming that this one ends at a week, it will have been 3 weeks of not nursing in a 7 week span. Exclusively pumping is TOUGH, but I'm trying desperately to get her to a year! We've got just over 2 months left...

(*Editor's note: This is driving me crazy because I am usually so anal about spelling and grammar, but my capital a is not working. So any sentence that starts with an a is uncapitalized and I can't do anything about it!)

The weather has finally warmed up! We had a picnic lunch at the park and a nice trip to the Science Center today!

In case you don't follow me on Facebook, here are some of the funnier things Isabella has been up to lately (or not so lately):

Jennifer Oxenfeld Aceves loves when Isabella makes up names of dinosaurs. Tonight's new species is a "hippomutsteedivus"

When faced with the exciting task of choosing a prize from the dollar shelf at Target, Isabella chooses...a hot pink toilet brush?!?

Jennifer Oxenfeld Aceves counted down to the "new year" at 7:30 tonight with 7 kids in my house ages 4 and under, 6 of whom were armed with very loud blowing devices (thanks Robyn). It was a fun night and now I'm off to bed. Happy New Year!

How do you say Merry Christmas in Spanish? "police mommyma"

‎"I have a Hannukah on my Christmas tree. It's a pink light." I'm glad that Isabella is learning about different holiday traditions, but I think she has her facts mixed up!

In case you're trying to decide whether or not to put up a string or two of lights this season, I promise that however simple your decorations, my 3 year old will be full of "oohhs! aaahhhs! look mommys! prettys! and that's cutes!" if we happen to drive by your house.

Hi...I have the same last name as your family's, and I was wondering if Oxenfeld is your maiden name and Aceves is your husband's last name. The Aceves surname originated in Spain, and was later transferred to Mexico with the conquistadors and immigrants from Spain to Mexico. What is your husband's ancestry, Spanish or Mexican?...I'm just curious to know. Thanks!
