BIG GIRL BED!!
Isabella loves her big girl bed! The transition was very smooth, except for naptime. Oh, and I do have to whine a bit about the mornings. Naptime at home is a wash, we know that. She won't sleep, and it doesn't really affect her mood in the afternoon, so we don't really mind. She would happily stay in her crib for an hour and a half to two hours, which gave us the break that we needed. We weren't expecting her to sleep in her big girl bed either, but she won't stay IN it. We have done the best we can to baby-proof her room but without a video monitor up there, you sometimes just don't know what she's getting into. I know we should probably put her in the Pack 'n Play until she decides to stay in her bed, but since she is happy playing in her room by herself for an hour and a half, I really don't want to turn it into a big battle. We'll see.
Nighttime is wonderful. I am sad that she has decided to cut our snuggle time in the rocking chair. We used to sing and talk for 5-10 minutes every night before I would put her down. Now I get one song "C is for cookie, that's good enough for me...I like to eat lots of cookies yum, yum, yum" and repeat once. And then she says "singing all done. climb on stool. get in big girl bed." And she is off. For the most part, nights have gone just as they did in the crib. Occasionally she will get out of her bed to look for more books. We give her 2 books in bed and that is it. But usually she'll go right on to sleep and sleep through the night. We have a gate at her door, since her room is at the top of the steps, and she knows she can't get out. But the mornings...sigh. I am really whining here, because most people do not have a child that will sleep in. But we did, and now we don't. In the crib, Isabella would sleep until 7:30 or 8. Some days, I would leave for work before she was awake. And on the weekends, she would sleep at least until 8, sometimes later. Now we are LUCKY if she sleeps until 7. Which makes it harder for me during the week because I am used to getting up much earlier than her and by the time she woke up, I was ready for work and could help Nick get her ready. Now she is sometimes awake by 6:30. Like I said, I shouldn't complain, but I am anyway...
Isn't her comforter just the cutest? It is so perfect for her because she is SO into animals but she also likes pink. Her dresser is from IKEA. Her headboard, which you can't really see, is a hand-me down from me, and before that, it was my mom's. When I had it, it was white. Nick painted it green. Yesterday we went to a birthday party at the Natural Science Center (she LOVES it there) and as part of the party, they brought out animals to pet. Isabella was fearless and loved petting the ferret, lizard, snake, and tortise. She is also really into dinosaurs lately. Yesterday she was talking about velociraptors. I'm not sure if she was talking about dinosaurs at the time or just repeating the word, but it was still funny.
Oh, I almost forgot the funniest part. If you have been a from-the-start blog reader, you may remember when I got stuck in the bathtub when I was pregnant with Isabella. This experience was reminiscent...Nick put together Isabella's bed one morning, so we could talk to her about it before she went to school. I decided to climb in bed with her to read her some books before going to work. Everything is fine and then a loud noise and suddenly, I am somehow stuck between the mattress and the wall, with Isabella looking on with concern. I yell as loud as I can (without scaring Isabella), but Nick is in the shower downstairs. So I am stuck here for 5 or 10 minutes waiting for him to get out of the shower (luckily, he doesn't take marathon showers like I do). He came upstairs, helped me out, and said "oh, I guess I forgot to put the slats in. ooops."
OOOPS!
Luckily, I wasn't hurt and Isabella wasn't scared. I guess it was a good thing that I found out about the slats instead of poor Isabella in the dark. Anyway, if you're ever putting together a bed...don't forget to put the slats in before your pregnant wife decides to climb in!

LOVE the quilt on her bed!! It's so hard to find girl animal stuff!
I'm so glad the transition's going well - we love the big boy bed at our house!
I was looking for the picture of you stuck between the mattress and the wall...
1. We need to get Shaina a haircut too...SOON! We are searching for a good person, too. I will let you know what I find.
2. That comforter is the CUTEST! So glad she did well with the transition.
3. HILARIOUS story about you getting stuck....made me smile as I can picture myself doing the same thing right now being so preggers.
Such a BIG GIRL!
