Eating Bubbles?
Smile for Mommy!
I am so tired of this cold weather! We have had such a cold, wet winter and it has not been much fun. This weekend is supposed to be bearable so hopefully we can get out in it. Last weekend wouldn't have been bad except for the WIND! Isabella must have inherited Nick's thermostat. If you know Nick, you may know that he didn't ever really wear pants until he was in his 20s. He wears shorts if the temperature even nears 50. Last weekend when I took these pictures, it was in the 40s but the wind chill was somewhere in the 30s. Isabella was wearing that little jacket with just a long sleeve shirt on underneath and no hat or gloves. I was in a hat, hood, gloves, fleece, and was STILL cold! We were out there for over 45 minutes while I was freezing my toosh. But it was sunny and she was happy to be outside.
Life has been good...I know I haven't posted in awhile. I will try to get another belly picture up soon. I am starting to be more and more uncomfortable - it is really hard to get out of bed, off the couch, up off the floor, etc. I am starting to have pains in one of my butt cheeks - which is of course exacerbated by going up and down stairs, which is of course unavoidable in our new house. Someone told me the other day that I am starting to waddle. Thanks, just what a tired pregnant woman wants to hear, that she is waddling. I think the butt pain is causing the waddling, but I am feeling pretty BIG. I am about the same weight that I was with Isabella. I hit 200 pounds at my last appointment! Of course, I think I've actually gained more because I didn't weigh as much when I got pregnant with Bailey than when I did with Isabella.
Nick and I are taking a refresher childbirth course, which is starting to make it a bit more real. So here I am, 2 1/2 weeks away from my due date, and am STILL having a hard time wrapping my mind around it. You'd think 9 months would be enough. When the instructor was talking about signs of preterm labor the other night in class, she said, how many of you are over 36 weeks? Just me. I don't have to worry about preterm labor anymore. I can have this baby whenever she wants to come. CRAZY.
I just went shopping at consignment sales and was picking out baby clothes. At the first one I was with Guylene, who held up a cute shirt and I said "that is too small for Isabella..." Duh, it was a 6 months shirt, for Bailey! I went back and looked - Isabella was wearing 6 months clothes at 6 weeks, so I bought mostly 6 months summer clothes for Bailey. Of course, she could be much smaller or grow much slower than Isabella, but I had to make a guess.
Isabella is doing well, although she is still pretty mommy-clingy. She has taken to yelling "GO AWAY! GO AWAY DADDY!!" if he comes to help her in the middle of the night. She is better about letting him read books to her when I am in the room! We are trying to force her to accept the fact that "Mommy is not coming up this time", but when it is 2:30 am and all it takes is for me to get up and give her what she wants and she'll go back to sleep instead of Nick trying to force her to do without me - last night it took 15 - 20 minutes of crying before she finally settled down enough to be nice to Daddy and ask for Mommy nicely...so I still ended up going in there. And of course was awake for the next 2 1/2 hours...
We are definitely starting to see more toddler characteristics, which isn't always fun. She is starting to be whinier and throw more fits. But we're getting through it. I'm sure she is mild compared to many other two year olds, so we try to remind ourselves of that. She has done well with my parents lately. She spent the night with my mom a couple of weekends ago and that went very very well. They are taking care of her while we do our classes, so this week they came over and put her to bed. I think she did better for them than she does for us! She is still doing pretty well in her bed. We have brought out the Pack-N-Play for a few naptimes, which at least contains her. We don't mind her just playing in her room as long as it is for at least an hour, hour and a half and she has the door shut. Some days she is more high maintenance than others. Good thing for our sanity she only naps at home on the weekends! At night she usually only requires one to three trips back up there for some request, although last night she played and played and we finally got her to go to bed at 9:30. Probably about 50% of the time she sleeps all the way through the night, until 6:30 or so, which is much earlier than her previous wake-up time of 7:30-8. When she wakes up in the night, she just needs to be covered up or to find one of her books or stuffed animals, and then she goes right back to sleep. She sleeps with 3-4 board books in her bed, sometimes snuggled up to them. That kid LOVES her books!
