Swaddle Your Baby!

I have some advice for parents or parents to be of new babies: swaddle them! I know it doesn't work for every baby, but I think that it probably works for more than you'd think. We gave up on swaddling pretty quickly after Isabella was born because she seemed to like having her hands free (and it is hard to learn how to do correctly). But since we've started having her sleep in her crib at night, we've been swaddling her, and she's been sleeping 6-7 hours a night!!! We generally put her down around 9:30 or 10:00 and she has routinely been sleeping until about 4 or 4:30 every morning! We got the "Swaddle Me", which works pretty well. It has velcro to help keep it closed. If she happens to wiggle an arm out of it...she wakes up! If she stays swaddled, then she stays asleep until she gets hungry! So she has been sleeping in her crib every night since Thanksgiving, with the exception of one night. If she wakes up around 6 or 6:30, then I'll bring her to bed and let her sleep a couple of hours on my chest until we're ready to get up for the day. So here's a picture of our little burrito baby:

Nick says that he loves going in to her room when she wakes up in the middle of the night because when he goes up to her crib he sees her eyes wide open and a big smile on her face. She smiles so big he can see it in the dark. :D It is hard for him to want to shush her and get her back to sleep - who wants to deny a smiling baby? She has really been smiling and talking a lot and just being a whole lot more interactive in general. It is really really wonderful!

I couldn't resist posting this picture - she always looks at her chunkiest when she's in the bathtub! You can't really see it in this picture, but her hair is curly when it is wet. She is 8 weeks old today! We go for her 2 month appointment next Monday. I am looking forward to seeing how much she has grown, but not looking forward to her getting her shots :(
