The Big Sister

We were at Target the other day (Isabella loves Target...ahh, American materialism and marketing at its finest) and there was a cute little t-shirt on the dollar shelf that we bought for Bailey. Isabella liked it so much that we bought one for her baby doll too. Baby has been wearing the shirt for awhile now.

Last night, Isabella insisted that it was Baby Bailey's shirt and wanted me to take it off of Baby. Then she held it up to my belly - she wanted Baby Bailey* to wear it. A few minutes later, Nick leaned in to my belly to talk to Bailey. He asked Isabella to tell Bailey she loved her. Isabella leaned in real close and said "Have a good weekend Baby Bailey!" A few minutes later she had her mouth smooshed up to my belly and was singing the ABCs. Although she has some sense of her sister-to-be, she really has no idea how her life will change in a couple months! I think she will like having a baby sister though.

We are STILL dragging our feet on transitioning her to a big girl bed! I mean, when she will be in her room awake in the mornings for even as long as 30 minutes, just quietly talking, and when you finally go in there, she is just as happy as can be in her crib...what parent wants to take THAT away? We are thinking about making the switch tomorrow but with the possible winter weather, I think we may wait until next week. (What excuse will I come up with next week?? If we're not careful, Bailey will end up in the pack-n-play for the first year of her life). I was talking to her about it this morning and I told her we would be saying bye-bye to her crib. No. She didn't want to do that. That didn't make her happy at all. Sigh.

*When Isabella says Bailey, it sounds like "Baity". We actually met a little girl named Baity at the park one day. If you are familiar with this area, you may have heard of Baity's Discount Tires - yes, this girl was of that family. Anyway, I digress.
