For those of you following the Snickers saga...her cyst was NOT cancerous, which is a HUGE sigh of relief! However, the past week and a half have been filled with nothing but drama surrounding that dog! The first couple of days with the bandage on were fine. The first day or two without the bandage was fine. THEN the licking commenced! So much licking that Nick had to take her back to the vet on Monday. They took the stitches out because they were pulling through the skin, and tried to put her in a satellite to keep her from licking. That didn't work! It was bleeding everywhere and Snickers wouldn't even really walk around - she couldn't see anything! So Nick took her BACK to the vet and they said they'd keep it bandaged it up for a few days. Nick had to take her back in EVERY day last week so that the bandages could be changed. (He is a trooper and I love him all the more for it). So on Friday they said the bandages needed to come off so that it would heal faster. And they gave her another satellite dish for her head (see picture!!). Well, that worked for most of the day...until I came home from getting ice cream and found that she had locked herself in the bathroom (our bathroom is so small that she went in there and when she turned around the dish shut the door and she couldn't get out, ha ha) and used the satellite to gouge open the wound, spreading blood ALL over the bathroom (good thing she was contained in there!). So finally we decided to bandage her up ourselves and have been happier for it this weekend. I really wish that they'd been able to just tell us that the cyst wasn't cancerous while it was still ON her foot and we could have just left it on there and saved ourselves all this trouble!!
